What is a good deal for a used car? First of all I decide what I am after. By this I usually try to avoid a picking a particular make or model of used car. Instead I prefer to look for a style of vehicle. For instance my last purchase, I was looking for a small sedan, one in good to great condition, it had to have 4 cylinders (for fuel economies sake) and have a manual transmission. I also wanted a car that was less than 4 years old. Sometimes the car was involved in accident, then some parts were changed to anew one. In this case, it is difficult to find the part with exactly colormatch. This is why some cars get a new paint. Sometimes you even can find thatsome parts are older than others. All of this indicate that the car was in anaccident. What I do when I have a question like this is go to one of the online Toyota dealer's parts sites or call or go to your local Toyota dealer. Tell them the year and model of the car and the part you are looking for. If they ask for a vin number or ask whether the car is made in the US or Japan, then you know they are different. If they don't ask, then it shouldn't matter. If you buy the car by financing. Always pay attention to the APR. DifferentAPR means different price. During this time I developed some simple ground rules that I think take all the guess work out of using an auction as a viable means to getting a great deal on a used car. Start the engine. I ordered a nice set of 16 x 7 Rims with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)to go with a set of 235/60HR16 Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus tires.....these tires are FANTASTIC. They grip a wet road like no other and are standard on BMW 5-series cars. Their load rating is a 98H which exceeds the axle requirements for the Ody, so you are legal. I got 5 tires/rims because we Touring folks have no spare and I wanted a full size. Supercharger kits are available for the Camry (Solara) V6 via Toyota's TRD division. If you can find a junked Solara from that year, you can do the engine/tranny/ECM swap then bolt on the blower. You even get a warranty on it. But granted, it puts out a tepid 4 psi boost. Any engine you want to withstand the boost you're looking for will need serious upgrading. Based on the information in these articles, it seems at least plausible that many RFT owners have unknowingly ran the tires under low pressure for an extended period. That would explain premature tire wear and failure for many, but not for all. Unlike conventional tires, RFT have stiff sidewalls that make a flat tire stay more round, hence harder to detect by eye. The low profile tires on BMW make it even harder to see bcs the space between the rim and the ground is small to begin with. Many of us are under the impression that TPMS is safeguard that replaces our eyeballs, but this is often not true. Buying a car in auction is good when the condition of car is fine and we get it for affordable price..I purchased a car in an auction 2 years back, I am not satisfied with that,it was not up to my expectations.Many people I speak tell me that even though they are happy to buy a car at an online auction.. The marketing pitch of these new technologies lead us to think that we would have less to worry: TPMS tells us when there is a problem, and we can keep driving 50 miles when the warning comes on. The truth is just the opposite: the new technology actually requires us to pay more careful attention to the tires than we're used to. A nail puncture in RFT can be repaired in principle, but apparently most service stations would not want to earn that $20 to risk being blamed for bigger problems later. Check tire pressure on RFT more diligently than with non-RFT tires, bcs our eyes cannot detect low pressure well. Do not let the TPMS fool us into having a false sense of security and check the tires less frequently. This is probably an important factor behind a lot of unhappiness about RFT, Bridgestone or not. Ideally, car makers will want to switch to using "direct" TPMS in the future such that the pressure on all 4 tires are checked electronically and displayed on the dash board by pushing a button. Until then, this new technology really requires more careful attention from owners, not less. Every rim has been damaged and I am trying to work a deal to have them take care of switching to a wheel and tire of my chasing along with a spare donught in the lazy susan well of the floor. I am not taking the odyssey off the lot until they have made it right by me. If they supply me with a 17" wheel and tire I have chosen I will let the matter drop. If they don't I will take photographs of the wheel damage done by them and retain an attorney. I am not going to put up with this insane monoply that Michelin and Honda have conspired in. This system is wrong and I will pursue it as far as humanly possible. The replacement wheel was priced to me at $400.00 each. If they don't take care of my request on Monday I will try to contact the media myself. |
