I ordered a nice set of 16 x 7 Rims with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)to go with a set of 235/60HR16 Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus tires.....these tires are FANTASTIC. They grip a wet road like no other and are standard on BMW 5-series cars. Their load rating is a 98H which exceeds the axle requirements for the Ody, so you are legal. I got 5 tires/rims because we Touring folks have no spare and I wanted a full size. Start the engine. Pay attention to the sound when the car start. Good enginesounds not heavy. Push the gas, listen the sounds. Good engine should be verysmooth and stable. Watch if the muffler smoking. Close all trunks. Get in thecar. Check if the A/C is cold. Is there some special noise when you turn on theA/C? If something is power, check all of them. Don't forget the radio. The marketing pitch of these new technologies lead us to think that we would have less to worry: TPMS tells us when there is a problem, and we can keep driving 50 miles when the warning comes on. The truth is just the opposite: the new technology actually requires us to pay more careful attention to the tires than we're used to. A nail puncture in RFT can be repaired in principle, but apparently most service stations would not want to earn that $20 to risk being blamed for bigger problems later. When your windshield starts blurring when you turn the wipers on, dampen a cloth or rag with some full-strength white vinegar and run it down the full length of each blade once or twice. The O-ring around the shaft and the top gasket will not stop the oil from getting into the Dist. Somehow oil leaks internally into the Dist. after a few years and a few hundred K on these motors. I have had to replace two on 2 different cars (both were a camry) It does take a bit of work to get a reman Dist. back in the hole. Just use plenty of vasoline and take your time. The common suggestion when purchasing 2 tires is to put the new tires on the back. I would guess you can never rotate the tires until the front ones would wear, you would buy two more and put them on the back also. During this time I developed some simple ground rules that I think take all the guess work out of using an auction as a viable means to getting a great deal on a used car. Van owned for 13 months, 16,000 miles. New tread depth on PAX is 10/32, mine were 3/32 front and 7/32 rear. Michelin specs are minimum of 4/32 tread depth. Called Michelin at 877-pax-tire (aw, how cute) they now have 24/7 support BTW, that tells you something right there. |
