I ordered a nice set of 16 x 7 Rims with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)to go with a set of 235/60HR16 Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus tires.....these tires are FANTASTIC. They grip a wet road like no other and are standard on BMW 5-series cars. Their load rating is a 98H which exceeds the axle requirements for the Ody, so you are legal. I got 5 tires/rims because we Touring folks have no spare and I wanted a full size. Van owned for 13 months, 16,000 miles. New tread depth on PAX is 10/32, mine were 3/32 front and 7/32 rear. Michelin specs are minimum of 4/32 tread depth. Called Michelin at 877-pax-tire (aw, how cute) they now have 24/7 support BTW, that tells you something right there. First of all I decide what I am after. By this I usually try to avoid a picking a particular make or model of used car. Instead I prefer to look for a style of vehicle. For instance my last purchase, I was looking for a small sedan, one in good to great condition, it had to have 4 cylinders (for fuel economies sake) and have a manual transmission. I also wanted a car that was less than 4 years old. The o-ring looks to prevent oil from coming out of the distributor hole and leaking down the side of the engine. It doesn't look to be able to prevent oil from traveling along the distributor shaft, past the bearing, and into the dist body...I guess time will tell. Try used fabric softer dryer sheets to remove love bugs from front of car,just wet them and rub away the bugs. Sometimes you will get it by leaving. If you didn't get it by doing so, don'tbe disappointed. Then go to the second dealer. Using the same process but don'tleave so early this time. If you can not get the car, then go up another $ 500. My introduction to the auction process was as a software developer some 15 years ago when many auction houses were computerising their operations. So as a result I spent a lot of time working on the inside and got the low down from experts in the auction industry, which invariably led to my participating on the outside as a bidder. Continental seems to get less less complaints and they are less expensive than the OEM Bridgestone EL42-RFT. I asked the local Town Fair Tire store and they told me that they could get the Conti overnight and costs about $200. Tirerack.com carries it for about $150 + shipping/mounting/balance. Getting 20K miles out of the Bridgestone is not so bad as it has a relatively low rating on wear compared to others. There has been some talk about the Bridgestone having a new modified version, but it's unclear if that's actually true. A few other items: Since I didn't bring proof of tire rotation and my tires were on the high side on pressure (which was done by a honda dealer BTW as the TPMS kept saying the pressure was low) Michelin resisted paying anything until I told the dealer I was going to keep the old tires for the lawsuit that was filed in LA in March, then within literally 10 seconds the Michelin rep agreed to pay 70% as a 'goodwill' gesture. Also I have had two Michelins with material defects on my Pilot. Expect to lose a day if you go thru this tire claim process, it took us 6 hours today. |
