Every rim has been damaged and I am trying to work a deal to have them take care of switching to a wheel and tire of my chasing along with a spare donught in the lazy susan well of the floor. I am not taking the odyssey off the lot until they have made it right by me. If they supply me with a 17" wheel and tire I have chosen I will let the matter drop. If they don't I will take photographs of the wheel damage done by them and retain an attorney. I am not going to put up with this insane monoply that Michelin and Honda have conspired in. This system is wrong and I will pursue it as far as humanly possible. The replacement wheel was priced to me at $400.00 each. If they don't take care of my request on Monday I will try to contact the media myself. Look at the back trunk. Open the back trunk, then you can see if the backpanel was damaged. Look at the cloth of back trunk. A well maintained car shouldhave a clean cloth and spear tire in back trunk. If the cloth is very dirty oryou can take off the cloth, the car was hit on back for the probability of 80%. I drove another mile to the restaurant; found that the pressure in one tire was ALL gone! I pumped up the tire, didn’t see or hear any obvious leak, so I drove home. The pressure has now held up for almost 24 hours, not sure what caused the leak. The warning light on the dash didn’t go away after the flat tire was reinflated. I read the manual and learned that it had to be re-initialized after each alert. I'll continue to monitor in the coming days, certainly won't take the car on a long trip. Drive the car. If possible, drive the car on highway. Listen the sounds ofwind and the engine. Listen if there is some uncommon sounds. Do you feel thecar very comfortable, smooth, stable? Make a sharp turn. Listen if there is someproblem with the C/V joint. Take your hands off the steering on a flat road. Isthe call pulling to one side? Push the brake to see if the car is pulling oneside when you push the brake. Look over the belts inside your engine. If they look worn or frayed then it is time to replace them. You can often buy replacement belts at any auto parts store. Look up the right ones for your type of automobile. The common suggestion when purchasing 2 tires is to put the new tires on the back. I would guess you can never rotate the tires until the front ones would wear, you would buy two more and put them on the back also. I spray WD-40 on my wheels before I go to the car wash,then when you get to the car wash, all you have to do is pressure wash the brake dust off...works great. Look at inside. The most important thing is that the car is well maintainedand in a good condition. Some people don't treat their car good. A good carshould have a very clean inside. There is no holes in the seats. Check if allthe buttons works well. Set up a claim number and then called the area dealers for PAX costs, best was $192 for the tire plus $75 each tire for labor (!). FYI another dealer 15 miles away was charging $300/tire plus $100 each for labor and my local honda dealer did not have the PAX machine even though the Michelin database said they did. Time to call the TIRE RACK at 1-800 428 8355(go ahead and google them -they have a great web site. I ordered a nice set of 16 x 7 Rims with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)to go with a set of 235/60HR16 Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus tires.....these tires are FANTASTIC. They grip a wet road like no other and are standard on BMW 5-series cars. Their load rating is a 98H which exceeds the axle requirements for the Ody, so you are legal. I got 5 tires/rims because we Touring folks have no spare and I wanted a full size. Supercharger kits are available for the Camry (Solara) V6 via Toyota's TRD division. If you can find a junked Solara from that year, you can do the engine/tranny/ECM swap then bolt on the blower. You even get a warranty on it. But granted, it puts out a tepid 4 psi boost. Any engine you want to withstand the boost you're looking for will need serious upgrading. Try to contact the us marshals office to find which auction they send the drug cars to, or contact your local banks and credit unions to see if they have repossessions up for bids, if they do don't be afraid of insulting anyone by low biding even if they have a start price. if you can prepare for purchasing a car a few months before you need to buy that's the best way to get your best deal. |
