Bargain tips for a new car

Here are some bargain tips to buy a new car.

1. Know what is a good deal for a new car.

2. Start giving your first offer at most $500 under the invoice.

3. Show you are interested in the car.

If you are not interested in the car at all, the dealer will not like to negotiate with you or he will not like spend a lot of patience dealing with you. It's hard to reach an agreement for the price.

4. Show you are not interested in the car.

If the dealer think you are too interested in the car to walk away, he will hold the price firm. He think you have to buy the car today and with him. Actually it's not true. There are a lot of other dealers there. Even if you really like a car, you can get the same car at another dealership.

5. Ask the dealer take the "destination cost" off. Some car dealerships has a so called "destination cost". They will apply the cost on top of the price you just agreed. Ask him to take the cost off. Usually the dealler will say:"This is required by law" or something. Then tell him this:"If you can not take the destination off, I need to take it off of the price." Tell his this and insist. Maybe he can not take the whole amount of the destination fee out, but he certainly can take half out. By doing this, you just save yourself a few hundered bucks.

6. Walk away. Learn to walk away. Sometime walk away can save you hundreds. And it often works! Even they don't take your offer when you walk away, tell them this:"If you changed your mind, call me." Sometimes they will call you a few days later and you will save hundreds!
